This research report is the reflexive part of a double facetted work resulting from two mandates, one of research, the other of consultation, granted in 2005 and 2006 to the Laboratoire d’étude de l’architecture potentielle (L.E.A.P.) by Madam Danièle Valabrègue, director of the Groupement d’intérêt public “Europe des project architecturaux et urbain” (GIP EPAU). This implied, on one hand, to conceive and to develop the structure of a documentary database allowing the management of the archiving and Internet broadcasting of information and of documents pertaining to the French sessions of the Europan competition. On the other hand, to establish an interdisciplinary work group (think tank) in order to lead an analysis on the 8th edition of the French version of Europan, completing the synthesis of European experts by bringing an external view point, independent from the European vision on the subject of architecture, landscape and urbanism competitions.
